About me

Hello, I'm Ali. Adverse childhood experiences affected the way I related to others as I grew up, I avoided emotions and hard conversations by adopting unhealthy ways of coping. I recognise that ignoring problems, like I did, can negatively impact lives but this is a method that many of us use. Our personal journeys help shape our understanding and empathy, though each person's experience remains uniquely their own. What matters most is creating a space where you feel comfortable to explore what's happening in your life, at your own pace and in your own way.

Before becoming a counsellor, I spent several years as a college lecturer, working with teenagers and young adults to teach practical working skills. It was these young people who inspired me to train as a counsellor – their resilience, challenges, and growth showed me the power of having someone really listen.

What draws me to person-centred counselling is the simple yet powerful belief that we all have the capacity to find our own answers. I've seen the transformation that can happen when people feel truly heard and accepted without judgement. Whether we're sitting together online, in a therapy room or walking and talking in nature, my aim is to create a relationship where you feel safe enough to explore what's happening for you.

If you're considering counselling, I know it can feel like a big step. I'd welcome the opportunity to have an initial conversation to see if we might be a good fit for working together.
